We all agree life was better on vacation and going back to work can be a bit of a blow… Some studies even show that many people choose a special remedy to tackle this feeling of discomfort: shopping!

You have probably jumped to the same solution and, if you are reading this article, it means that you have come across FLAIR Copenhagen’s website and our shiny silk robes, or the new soft silk pillowcases, and you might have wondered ‘Who is FLAIR Copenhagen? Why are they talking about sustainability? And what does this word have to do with fashion and luxury?’.

Why Flair Copenhagen jumped into the sustainable silk world

FLAIR Copenhagen is a young Danish fashion brand of sustainable silk clothing. Let’s stop right here.

Why this name? Well, FLAIR Copenhagen is the perfect combination of two words that describe elegance, minimalism and lifestyle… and they are part of our brand DNA.

Why silk? Silk has always been considered as one of the most luxurious, timeless and comfortable material for the skin. However, it represents an ongoing challenge because nobody wants to work with it: it is slippery, machines are often not adapted to the silk processing and, therefore, it is mostly handmade!

And finally, what do we mean by ‘sustainable’ fashion brand? Simple! We do not produce any new materials, we just reuse spare fabric from large productions that otherwise would have become waste.

Since we care about our environment, FLAIR’s mission is to limit the enormous waste of clothing all over the world, which is one of the main causes of pollution… And through our special production process we are one step ahead in contributing to this cause!

But there is more! Not only we try to reduce the waste of fabrics, but we also want to avoid overseas emissions in the transport of our silk products ... How? We decided to stay nearby and produce each garment in Europe. Also, in our process we don’t have intermediaries, meaning that we are able to offer quality products at a fair price! 

Finally, to minimize the waste of silk material, and to avoid making the same mistake as the huge fashion companies that produce in stock, our models and collections are limited edition: this means that we produce personalized garments by using only the silk we need… not a single meter more! 

Silk as a sustainable, timeless, and luxurious material

Now that we gave you a taste of who FLAIR Copenhagen is and what it does, we can agree that three words fully describe it: sustainable, timeless and price friendly.

But… We believe there is another word that fits perfectly the brand: luxury. Yes, exactly… We sell luxury in a sustainable way. However, most people have a hard time to imagine that something luxurious could also be sustainable! Well, these people might be right: normally these two worlds don’t go hand in hand.

However, luxury can be everybody’s routine and it can also be sustainable… and part of our goal is to spread this powerful message in the fashion world!
